Roles de género en la vida de la población adulta mayor en la parroquia San José de Sidcay, Cuenca

Abstract

This research was carried out at San José sector. Belonging at Sidcay the parish Cuenca canton, during the period of time between December 2019 to February 2020. The main objective is to understand the perceptions that older men and women have regarding the roles that should be exercised by men and women and identify the roles exercised by the people under investigation, based on the learning of his childhood, a qualitative study was elaborated where, in the first place, the documentary review proceeded and subsequently the semi-structured interview was applied to the older adults studied. An intentional sample of ten older adults was worked, five of the male gender and five of the female gender: the results of the investigation allowed to understand their perceptions regarding the gender roles they should exercise as men and women, it was also possible to conclude that the gender roles learned from childhood have been generated impact at this stage of his life. Finally, among the results of the investigation denotes the enormous impact it has had on their lives teaching about the roles that they learned to exercise from their childhood, which allowed them to improve or worsen their development at this stage of their lives.
