| en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Covid-19 had its beginnings at the end of 2019 in the city of Wuhan. This disease mainly affects the respiratory system, which in turn adds to millions of people, regardless of age, sex, or race will being infected, causing the death of many people worldwide. In Ecuador, the cases of patients with Covid-19 are increasing, as well as human losses. This is due to several factors, among which the immune system plays a primary role in conjunction with food. On the other hand, nutrition influences the symptoms of the disease since the action of the immune system against the virus depends on it. This is why several scientific studies have shown the work that micronutrients do in the immune system. This helps patients with Covid-19 by reducing the predisposition to recover or making the symptoms less aggressive, assisting the patient in times shorter. This is why a study was carried out through a narrative review of several articles, journals, and scientific papers published in recent years to explain the role of micronutrients that can act as immunomodulators in SARS-virus disease. CoV-2. In turn, the benefit of these in preventing the last illness, their food sources, and the effect that the deficiency of certain micronutrients causes in the immune system. Thirty-seven scientific articles were analyzed, showing that vitamins: A, B, C, and D, and minerals: iron, selenium, and zinc can help protect against or combat Covid-19 for its antioxidant power, Anti-inflammatory, antiviral, immunomodulatory, and adjuvant properties in the treatment of patients | en_US |
