Tratamiento por descompresión medular en pacientes con hernia discal lumbar del Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, Cuenca 2009

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic response to treatment with the DRX9000 spinal decompression in patients with lumbar disc herniation at the Hospital Jose Carrasco Arteaga Cuenca, since this new method is being used for this problem.

Materials and Methods: Using a longitudinal descriptive study collected data from 128 patients diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation were treated with the DRX9000, the distribution by age, sex, occupation, marital status, education, degree of pain before and after treatment , level of injury, body mass index and therapeutic response.

Results: More than 2 / 3 were males, 57.2% and 42.8% of women with a ratio of approximately 3:1. In both sexes other age groups most affected were 31 to 60 years in 83.6%, with this back pain symptomatology by 60%, marital status slightly higher percentage of married compared to 78.9% singles with 14.8%.

The 40.63% was on the occupancy was represented by the workers of the company ERCO, followed with 16.41% for dependent activities are located within them are teachers, doctors, etc. 46.9% of the affected population had only secondary education, higher education 43.8% and 9.4% at primary level.

In relation to BMI for 53.1% of patients are overweight, when it comes to 36.7% are within the normal weight, 7.8% of patients with lumbar disc herniation are obese type I and 2, 3% obese type II. 56.3% of patients had their involvement at the level of L5-S1, 39.1% injury at L4-L5 and 4.7% at L3-L4.
