Características de prescripción de antibióticos en el área de cirugía del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Marzo- abril 2012

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the characteristics of antibiotic prescription in the surgery area Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital. March-April 2012.

Material and Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study. The universe histories were all admitted to the surgery area from January 1 to December 31, 2010, the sample was obtained through the program Epi-Info 7.0. being of 135 medical records of patients admitted from March 1 until April 30, 2012. For data collection form was used, which was filled by the authors, was selected randomly one day a week in which we collect the data, which will be 17 medical records of patients who are hospitalized in the area surgery on that day, the same that will be chosen at random, it will be held for eight weeks, in order to evaluate in this way to different residents of this area.

Results: 79% of patients were prescribed antibiotics, these commonly used antibiotics were ciprofloxacin 28.67%, cefazolin and metronidazole 27.27% 18.88% within the main diagnoses appendicitis have 22.92%, 6.94% cholecystitis, other diseases of the road 6.94% bile, an indication as to the 7.89% have been used therapeutically, and 92.11% prophylactically, as to the route of oral administration is 1% and 99% intravenously, clinical judgment was based on a 99% and microbiological 1%.

Conclusions: The HVCM in 79% of prescriptions are antibiotics, of which the most ciprofloxacin used was 28.67%, among the diagnoses used antibiotic was most acute appendicitis, and 92.11% are the uses of prophylactically
