| en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Pressure ulcers are localized lesions on the skin and / or underlying tissue generated by the interaction of intrinsic and extrinsic factors, which constitute a Public Health problem, being a complication of healthcare. Objective: Determine the frequency and characteristics of pressure ulcers in patients in the clinic and surgery area of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, Cuenca 2020. Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional research study. A population of 120 patients and a sample of 66 were considered from the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital between the clinic and surgery area to determine the frequency of PUs. The instruments used were: the WATERLOW scale and the PUSH scale. The SPSS program was used in the data analysis. The results were described in descriptive tables, of frequency and percentages. Results: The frequency of PU was 53%, in ages 36 to 64 years (53%), predominantly female with 51.5%. Among the intrinsic factors, the pre-existing pathologies had 74.2% and, in the extrinsic factors, 100% exceeded a stay greater than 48h, 37.9% had high risk according to the Waterlow scale, and in the scale of 100% PUSH with an ulcer, only 50% had Grade I tissue damage, the sacral region being the most affected (25.8%). Conclusion: The frequency of PU was presented in half of the patients evaluated, finding a high incidence in the female sex, lack of use of the anti-bedsore mattress and a recurrent dorsal decubitus position. | en_US |
