dc.description | ANTECEDENTES: actualmente el envejecimiento poblacional se presenta debido al avance continuo de la tecnología, mejoramiento de métodos diagnósticos, tratamientos eficaces y oportunos, lo que ha aumentado la calidad y la expectativa de vida. En Ecuador en el 2020, los adultos mayores representaron el 7,4% de la población total. Se prevé que para el 2054 serán el 18%. El envejecimiento poblacional sumado a la comorbilidad y multimorbilidad llevan a la perdida funcional tanto para las actividades básica e instrumentadas de la vida diaria por lo que es importante preparar a la sociedad para el mismo. OBJETIVO GENERAL: detectar al adulto mayor con dependencia en los “Centros Geriátricos Hogar Miguel León y Hogar Cristo Rey”. Cuenca, 2020. METODOLOGÍA: estudio retrospectivo, descriptivo y transversal. Realizado a partir de expedientes de 148 adultos mayores. Registrando su información en fichas de recolección de datos (Anexo 1). El programa que se utilizó es STATA, para obtener tablas simples de frecuencia, porcentajes, media y graficar los resultados. RESULTADOS: Con un universo total de 148 individuos. Se encontró que el 42% de los residentes registraron un nivel severo de dependencia según índice de Barthel y el 79% dependencia total según el Índice Lawton y Brody. En la caracterización de la población, el 62% de las personas mayores, corresponden al sexo femenino, el 61% resultaron solteros, el 93% resultó ser analfabeta o cursaron solo la primaria y el 41% reportó ser adulto mayor solo. Con estos resultados, pretendemos educar a la sociedad para poder prevenir la dependencia física y evitar que avance a la inmovilidad. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | BACKGROUND: Currently, population aging occurs due to the continuous advancement of technology, improvement of diagnostic methods, effective and timely treatments, which has increased quality and life expectancy. In Ecuador in 2020, the elderly represented 7.4% of the total population. It is expected that by 2054 they will be 18%. Population aging added to comorbidity and multimorbidity lead to functional loss both for the basic and instrumented activities of daily life, so it is important to prepare society for it. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: to detect the elderly dependent in the “Hogar Miguel León and Hogar Cristo Rey Geriatric Centers”. Cuenca, 2020. METHODOLOGY: retrospective, descriptive and cross-sectional study. Made from the records of 148 older adults. Registering your information in data collection sheets (Annex 1). The program that was used is STATA, to obtain simple tables of frequency, percentages, mean and graph the results. RESULTS: With a total universe of 148 individuals. It was found that 42% of the residents registered a severe level of dependency according to the Barthel index and 79% total dependency according to the Lawton and Brody Index. In the characterization of the population, 62% of the elderly correspond to the female sex, 61% were single, 93% were illiterate or attended only primary school and 41% reported being elderly alone.
