Abstract: | Objective: To determine the prevalence of bulimia and associated factors in adolescents 10 to 19 years from urban high schools of Cuenca.
Method and Materials: This study is a quantitative cross-sectional prevalence. Population of N = 38118 the final sample of n = 1215, which met the inclusion criteria. Structured interview was used to apply a questionnaire consisting of socio-demographic variables, as well as bulimia test of Edinburgh (Bulimic Investigatory Test Edinburgh, BITE). The results were statistically analyzed in SPSS 15.00. Evaluation Version
Results: 84 cases 7.3% sub-clinical bulimia nervosa and 47 cases equivalent to 4.1% have possible bulimia nervosa. 442 students, 38.3% did not eat breakfast, 228 students, 19.8% have feelings of loneliness, 152 students, 13.2% are deficient affective; 259 students, 22.4% were strongly influenced by the mass media; 386 students, 33.4% had difficulty in resolving conflicts; 359 students 31.1% have difficulty communicating emotions; 378 students, 32.8% have impaired body image; dysfunctional families and severe dysfunctional families 272 cases representing 23.5%.
Conclusions: 7.3% have possible sub-clinical bulimia nervosa and 4.1% had bulimia nervosa possible. |
Description: | El presente estudio es de tipo cuantitativo transversal de prevalencia. Universo de N= 38118 La muestra final fue de n= 1215, que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. Se utilizó la entrevista estructurada aplicándose un cuestionario conformado por variables socio-demográficas, además del test de bulimia de Edimburgo (Bulimic Investigatory Test Edimburgh, BITE). Los resultados tuvieron un análisis estadístico en SPSS 15.00. Versión Evaluación Resultados: En la muestra 84 casos 7,3% presentan posible bulimia nerviosa sub clínica y 47 casos equivalente al 4,1 % tienen posible bulimia nerviosa. 442 estudiantes, el 38,3 % no desayunan; 228 estudiantes, el 19,8 % presentan sentimientos de soledad; 152 estudiantes, el 13,2 % presentan carencia afectiva; 259 estudiantes, el 22,4 % se consideran influenciados por los mass media; 386 estudiantes, el 33,4 % tienen dificultad para resolver conflictos; 359 estudiantes el 31,1 % tienen dificultades para comunicar emociones; 378 estudiantes, el 32,8 % presentan imagen corporal deteriorada; sumando las familias disfuncionales y las familias severamente disfuncionales tenemos 272 que representan el 23,5 % de los investigados. |
