Prevalencia de anorexia nerviosa en los y las adolescentes de los colegios urbanos de la ciudad de Cuenca, 2011-2012

Abstract

Introduction: Anorexia nervosa is a disease of growing concern worldwide, affecting more young people every day and is one of the nutritional disorders with most prevalence. Objective: Determine the prevalence of anorexia nervosa in adolescents in urban schools in the city of Cuenca, during the school year 2011-2012. Analysis and Observation Unit: Teens aged between 10 and 19 thatfull fitthe inclusion and exclusion criteria. Methodology: Cross sectional quantitative or prevalence, conducted in 69 urbanhigh schools in the city of Cuenca, 2012. Sample814 students. Information was collected using a previously validated questionnaire; the diagnosis of anorexia was given by the DSM-IV TR. The data were processed in SPSS 15.0 evaluation version. Results: The average age stood at 15 years with a DS of 1.66 years, the prevalence of anorexia was at 2,7%, was presented with the highest prevalence in adolescents aged between 17 -19 years (3,1 %), male (3,2%), no migration (3,4%), with a migrant parent (4,9%) and students in fiscomisionales high schools (4,2%). There is notdemographic variable was associated with anorexia nervosa and television programs also increased the risk of this pathology. Conclusions: The anorexia nervosa is pathology of low prevalence in the study population, the television programs whose focus is on the body and fashion increases the risk of anorexia nervosa, although not achieving statistical significance in our study.
