Abstract: | Academic Stress (EA), is a term used to assess the interaction of the individual within the school field, when the stressors are perceived as not having the necessary factors to deal with it arises the EA, so it is considered one of the biggest problems that violate the health and well-being of students.
This study aimed to describe the dimensions of academic stress: to identify the demands of the school environment perceived as stressors, to know the main symptoms and strategies for coping with academic stress, and to describe stressors according to sociodemographic variables of high school students.
The study had a quantitative approach, with a descriptive scope, the sample was composed of 180 students, 57 men (31.7%) and 123 women (68.3%) all of them from the U.E.O.C. From this sample 27.2% belongs to the first, 37.8% to second and 35.0% to third of Baccalaureate with an age range of 15 to 20 years.
Arturo Barraza's SISCO tool (2007) was used; results based on the goals show that 77.1% of students had a moderate level of stress, 51.7% had very stressful at least one situation in their school environment, the most frequent stressors were overburdened with an average of 3.56; the most common reactions in descending order were psychological reactions with an average of 2.94 feelings of sadness and concentration problems, physical with an average of 2.82 (increase or reduction of food consumption). As for the coping strategies you employ was the assertive skill (defending our preferences, ideas or feelings without harming others) with an average of 3.35. |
Description: | El Estrés Académico (EA), es un término utilizado para valorarla interacción del individuo dentro del ámbito escolar, cuando los factores estresores se perciben como que no cuentan con los factores necesarios para afrontarlo surge el EA, por lo que es considerado uno de los mayores problemas que vulnera la salud y bienestar de los estudiantes.
Este estudio tuvo como objetivos describir las dimensiones del estrés académico: identificar las demandas del entorno escolar percibidas como estresores, conocer los principales síntomas y estrategias de afrontamiento ante estrés académico y describir a los estresores según variables sociodemográficas de los estudiantes de bachillerato.
El estudio tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo, con un alcance descriptivo, la muestra estuvo compuesta por 180 estudiantes, 57 hombres (31.7%) y 123 mujeres (68.3%) todo ellos de la U.E.O.C. De esta muestra el 27,2% pertenece al primero, el 37.8% a segundo y el 35.0% a tercero de Bachillerato con un rango etario de 15 a 20 años.
Se hizo de usó la herramienta denominada SISCO del estrés académico de Arturo Barraza (2007); los resultados obtenidos en base a los objetivos demuestran que el 77.1% de los estudiantes presentaron un nivel de estrés moderado, el 51.7% presentó muy estresante al menos una situación en su ambiente escolar, los estresores más frecuentes fueron sobrecarga de tareas con una media de 3.56; las reacciones más frecuentes en orden descendente fueron las psicológicas con una media de 2.94 sentimientos de tristeza y problemas de concentración, físicas con media de 2.82 (aumento o reducción del consumo de alimentos). En cuanto a las estrategias de afrontamiento que empleas fue la Habilidad asertiva (defender nuestras preferencias, ideas o sentimientos sin dañar a otros) con una media de 3.35. |
