Prevalencia del síndrome de Burnout, factores asociados y calidad de vida laboral en los médicos del servicio de emergencia del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. 2018

Abstract

Emergency physicians have classically been associated with Burnout syndrome that has a negative effect on the quality of working life. To determine the prevalence of Burnout syndrome, associated factors, and quality of working life of emergency physicians at Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso during 2018. Cross-sectional, descriptive, descriptive observational study in 64 emergency physicians. Validated forms were applied: Maslach questionnaire; sociodemographic-labor survey; Professional Quality of Life Questionnaire 35. The data was tabulated in the Stata program version 13.0. Frequencies, percentages, prevalences, descriptive statistics, and correlational analyzes were used. The prevalence of Burnout syndrome in HVCM was 1.67%. There was an association with statistical significance between Burnout syndrome and male sex, β = -7.90, p = .011, 95% CI [-13.93, -1.87], younger age, β = -0.67, p = .001, CI 95% [-1.04, -.31] and work in a single job, β = 6.11, p = .048, 95% CI [.06, 12.15], no correlation was found with marital status or medical specialization. The quality of working life was between good (78.33%) and excellent (16.67%). The prevalence of Burnout syndrome was lower than that reported in the literature. An association was found with younger age, male sex and working in a single job. The quality of working life, as in other studies was between good and excellent.
