“Identificación de hospederos alternativos de Antracnosis (Colletotrichum sp) de Tomate de Árbol (Solanum betaceum Cav) en los sectores de Guachapala, El Pan y Sevilla de Oro”

Abstract

The fungus (Colletotrichum sp), known as ojo de pollo, has been affecting the production of tree tomato (Solanum betaceum Cav) drastically, in the cantons of Sevilla de Oro, El Pan and Guachapala, forcing farmers to abandon this cultivate or use large amount of fungicides. The control / management of (Colletotrichum sp) is carried out directly to the tomato plant in general and in particular to the fruit, through the use of fungicides, without taking into account the alternative hosts that host this fungus. So far, there were no known alternative hosts of this fungus in the three different cantons. The objective of this study was to identify the alternative hosts of (Colletotrichum sp) as well as its distribution, abundance and richness, in the study area, for which we proceeded to take samples of each and every one of the existing weeds in the units productive samples, especially those that showed symptoms characteristic of the attack of the pathogen. As a result, 26 species of host weeds of the pathogen were identified and a Shannon and Weaver index equal to a high biodiversity of 3.5 and 3.6 respectively in the cantons of Guachapala and Sevilla de Oro, and of 2.2 in the canton El Pan.
