Percepciones de los y las docentes de educación general básica de las instituciones fiscales de la ciudad de Cuenca sobre los roles de género. Cuenca 2018

Abstract

Based on a quantitative analysis carried out in the city of Cuenca (Ecuador) in 2018, this research work aims to determine the perceptions of teachers of basic general education of public institutions on gender roles, using a sample of 327 teachers from different institutions from District 01D01 Cuenca-Norte. A validated survey was used to determine the current perceptions that have been predominant in Cuenca society of the teachers. This study: a) identifies the perceptions and conceptions on gender roles teachers have in their educational environment; the data can be verified with the results of the surveys; and b) determines the conceptions and teachings on gender roles teachers have; the data indicates that most of the teachers are absolutely in disagreement with maintaining or promoting gender roles or stereotypes. The answers are presented according to the perceptions of the teachers; appropriate information is then transmitted, which is free of discrimination in the educational system, they mention that, though audiovisual instruments, exhibitions, informative talks, dynamics and pedagogical actions, they promote a culture of respect that encompasses gender roles. There is a small percentage of teachers who agree and totally agree with affirmations oriented to the assignment of specific roles, to answer the hypothesis that teachers influence the teaching of gender roles.
