La Forma y la coordinación de elementos prefabricados: La Casa Eames

Abstract

In this thesis, the object of study focuses on the configuration through a prefabricated system of the Eames House or Csh 8, considering that this work is an important reference of modern architecture framing open industrialization. The Csh 8 responds to the csh program, a program that promoted the design and construction of prototype houses through the use of elements of open industrialization developed in World War II.

In this research the fundamental decisions between idea and construction, interpreted by Charles and Ray Eames, analyzing the historical, economic and social context in which it was developed, using in the research, drawings and textual analysis to clarify diverse ideas and principles . The analysis emphasizes the organization of elements under a tectonic vision, emphasizing how the design and construction processes, together with their results, give the formal value to a modern architectural project, determining possible project materials and influence on the contemporary architecture. It is also analyzed, how this organization generates modules, managing to articulate a mesh in the three spatial planes forming a three-dimensional object, the resulting mesh is filled with different materials, but above all with needs and functions.

At the same time, Csh 9 is studied and analyzed, developed with the same constructive resources but different aesthetic result. With this study and case analysis, it is intended to demonstrate that the same constructive system: elements and configurations, order and give formal value in a modern architectural project.
