Calidad de vida y resiliencia en adultos cuidadores de pacientes oncológicos en una institución en Cuenca

Abstract

The National Cancer Institute (NIH, 2018) has a prediction for the new cancer cases worldwide the cases will increase about 23.6 million by 2030, which will increase the number of caregivers, making it relevant to determine the factors that may be related to their quality of life, one of these being resilience. Therefore, this study aims to determine if there is a correlation between the variables Quality of life and resilience levels in primary caregivers of cancer patients. The study was conducted in 46 adult caregivers of cancer patients, 28 women and 18 men, who regularly attend the "Families Foundation United for Cancer Patients "(FUPEC), the information was collected through a sociodemographic record, the quality of life questionnaire" WHOQL - BREF "and the brief scale of resilience" BRIEF RESILIENCE SCALE - BRS ". The investigation found that Quality of life levels and resilience levels had a positive correlation with low intensity among primary caregivers, but with a very low significance value. In regards to the domains only the environmental had a very low positive correlation, while the others had low positive correlations, although neither are statistically significant results. Among the values of quality of life, it was determined that they were normal, both at a general level and by domains, for primary caregivers, and similarly average resilience scores were obtained.
