| Abstract: | The apple tree (Malus domestica Borkh.) Cv. Anna, is a fruit tree of great importance in Ecuador. One of the problems faced by producers, is the lack of adaptation of this cultivar, presenting difficulties in defoliation, because, in natural conditions of the zone, it is uneven and incomplete, causing an irregular sprouting of buds, flowering and fruiting. The main objective was to evaluate the effect of chemical defoliants in the cultivation of apple trees cv. Anna The research was carried out at the El Romeral farm of the University of Cuenca. A randomized complete block design with 19 treatments and 3 repetitions was used, the evaluated variables were: percentage of fallen leaves, percentage of buds budded and percentage of fruits set. The plants treated with copper chelate (0.5%, 1% and 1.5%) showed the best results in defoliation (>95%), in the control was 3.58%, this during the first 15 days of evaluation. In the percentage of buds sprouted in the 30 days of evaluation, the plants treated with Dormex at 1% and 1.5% stood out among the treatments, with 18.33% and 16.33% respectively, in the control was of 5.67%. The plants with 1.5% and 1% Dormex excelled in the percentage of fruit set with 17% and 15.67% respectively, in the control it was 6.67%, in the 60 days of evaluation. | Description: | El manzano (Malus domestica Borkh.) cv. Anna, es un frutal de gran importancia en el Ecuador. Uno de los problemas que enfrentan los productores, es la falta de adaptación de este cultivar, presentándose dificultades en la defoliación, debido a que, en condiciones naturales de la zona, resulta desuniforme e incompleta, provocando una irregular brotación de yemas, floración y fructificación. El objetivo principal fue evaluar el efecto de defoliantes químicos en el cultivo de manzano cv. Anna. La investigación se llevó a cabo en la granja El Romeral de la Universidad de Cuenca. Se utilizó un diseño de bloques completos al azar con 19 tratamientos y 3 repeticiones, las variables evaluadas fueron: porcentaje de hojas caídas, porcentaje de yemas brotadas y porcentaje de frutos cuajados. Las plantas tratadas con quelato de cobre (0,5%, 1% y 1,5%) presentaron los mejores resultados en defoliación (>95%), en el control fue de 3,58%, esto durante los primeros 15 días de evaluación. En el porcentaje de yemas brotadas en los 30 días de evaluación, las plantas tratadas con Dormex al 1% y al 1,5% se destacaron entre los tratamientos, con 18,33% y 16,33% respectivamente, en el control fue de 5,67%. Las plantas con Dormex al 1,5% y al 1% sobresalieron en cuanto al porcentaje de frutos cuajados con 17% y 15,67% respectivamente, en el control fue de 6,67 %, en los 60 días de evaluación. La investigación indicó que la aplicación de defoliantes, acelera el tiempo de defoliación, mejora la brotación de yemas y el cuajado de frutos |
