| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | Introduction: The anesthetic level and neurological activity of a patient during surgery are fundamental parameters to control for proper management of the same, so the monitor of the Biespectral Index (BIS), is a very useful tool. Objective: To determine the variation of the BIS during the hypothermia of the patient undergoing cardiac surgery at José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital, Cuenca. Methodology: Descriptive study, collected from January 2017 to June 2018, in cardiac surgery patients, in whom BIS (Bispectral Index) was used during controlled hypothermia. Obtaining: average, median, mode, standard deviation, range, minimum value and maximum value. Results: 68 patients, of legal age, undergoing cardiac surgery, in which induced hypothermia was used, during extracorporeal circulation, the average age was 55.9 years. 85.3% of the patients presented associated comorbidities; Aortic Valve Change (39.7%) was performed more frequently. The patients presented a Mini-Mental test before and after surgery of 27.5, without postoperative changes. The average of the BIS during the start of the CEC that was 41.86 Hertz, at 10 minutes was 33.00 Hertz, and during the induced hypothermia was 44.77 Hertz, this indicates that the BIS was maintained within the acceptable range for the surgical procedure, even at the beginning of CEC Conclusions: Monitoring by BIS represents a useful mechanism for the control of the state of consciousness and neurological electrical activity during anesthesia, so its use becomes vitally important during our transoperative monitoring. | es_ES |
