| Abstract: | The construction of the old fire station building of Girón started in 1956. From that time on the structure carried a social function in the town, however, nowadays it sits empty with no other function than serving as a storage unit. This undergrad project is a blueprint of the complete restoration of the building, which is being executed thanks to the agreement between the University of Cuenca and the Autonomous Decentralized Government of Girón.
Previous to the proposals the bases and concepts for restoration are reviewed, studying, at the same time; the history and architectural heritage of Girón, specifically that of the building. Case studies similar to this project will be analyzed in order to estimate approximate proposals, a damage record will be done as well as the development of a historic, aesthetic, constructive and technical diagnosis of the building, in order to assign a value to the project.
This restoration blueprint is oriented towards recovering the social function the building always had and salvage the original architectonic, aesthetic and constructive values of the structure and at the same time, through the previous analysis determine what elements need to be replaced or eliminated in order to guarantee the safety and conservation of the building without altering the typology or original form of the structure. |
| Description: | El antiguo edificio de bomberos de Girón inició su construcción en el año 1956. Desde esa época la construcción tuvo continuamente una función social para el cantón, sin embargo, actualmente se encuentra deshabitado y sin ninguna función más que la de bodega. Este trabajo de titulación es un anteproyecto de restauración total del edificio, el cual es llevado a cabo gracias al convenio entre la Universidad de Cuenca y el Gobierno Autónomo Descentralizado de Girón.
Previamente a las propuestas se repasan las bases y conceptos de restauración, a la vez que se estudiará la historia y el patrimonio edificado de Girón, específicamente la historia del inmueble. Se analizarán casos de estudios similares al proyecto para estimar una aproximación a las propuestas, además se realizará un registro de daños y se desarrollará un diagnostico histórico, estético, constructivo y técnico del inmueble para finalmente otorgar una valoración a la obra.
Este anteproyecto de restauración está orientado a recuperar la función social que siempre tuvo y rescatar los valores originales arquitectónicos, estéticos y constructivos que posee la obra, a la vez que mediante los análisis previos determinar qué elementos se deben remplazar o eliminar para garantizar la seguridad y conservación de la construcción sin alterar la tipología o forma original. |
