| Abstract: | The objective of this work was to identify 2 genera of tick Rhipicephalus microplus and Amblyomma cajennense in bovines, in the Huambi parish of Canton Sucúa, province of Morona Santiago, for the development of the study 367 bovines were randomly selected, where the level was measured of infestation related to the genetics of bovines, age, sex and grass, ticks were collected manually from bovines and placed in a flask that had 70% alcohol for slaughter and subsequent analysis.In genetics, the Bos Indicus showed greater resistance, with a total of 3 infested bovines of 22, Bos Taurus presented 51 of 264 and the crosses presented 24 of 78 for the genus R. microplus, while for A. cajenennse 1 of 25 Bos Indicus presented infestation, 20 of 263 Bos Taurus and 11 of 78 crosses. For sex, females showed to be more susceptible than males for the genus R. microplus, with 57 of 255 infested females and 21 of 112 males, and for the genus A. cajennense there was no difference between sex. For the age, animals with less than one year showed an average resistance of 7.2% infested bovines and 17.2% of bovines older than one year. In the types of pasture 32% of bovines presented ticks in Brachiarias, 10% in King Grass and 0% in Elefante and Gramalote |
| Description: | El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo identificar 2 géneros de garrapata, Rhipicephalus microplus y Amblyomma cajennense en bovinos en la parroquia Huambi del cantón Sucúa, provincia de Morona Santiago. Para el desarrollo del estudio se muestrearon 367 bovinos escogidos al azar, donde se midió el nivel de infestación relacionado con: genética, edad, sexo y tipo de pasto. Las garrapatas se recolectaron de manera manual y se colocaron en alcohol al 70% para el sacrificio y posterior análisis. En la genética presentó mayor resistencia los Bos Indicus, con un total de 3 bovinos infestados de 22, Bos Taurus presentó 51 de 264 y los Cruces presentaron 24 de 78 para el género R. microplus, mientras que para A. cajenennse 1 de 25 Bos Indicus presentó infestación, 20 de 263 Bos Taurus y 11 de 78 Cruces. Para el sexo, las hembras fueron más susceptibles que los machos para el género R. microplus, con 57 de 255 hembras infestadas y 21 de 112 machos, y para el género A. cajennense no hubo diferencia entre sexo. En cuanto a edad presentó mayor resistencia los animales menores a un año, con un promedio de 7.2% bovinos infestados y un 17,2% de bovinos mayores a un año. En los tipos de pasto el 32% de bovinos presentaron garrapatas en Brachiarias, el 10% en King Grass y un 0% en Elefante y Gramalote |
