Monitorización fetal patológica durante la labor de parto y su relación con el APGAR del recién nacido en las gestantes del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso de Cuenca año 2015 - 2016

Abstract

GENERAL BACKGROUND: Fetal monitoring, despite its low specificity, is the method most commonly used to diagnose acute fetal wellbeing during labor, and inappropriate interpretation and inadequate procedures may occur. OBJECTIVE: To determine the relationship between pathological fetal monitoring and APGAR of the newborn in the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso during the years 2015-2016. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Descriptive, retrospective study collected information from 175 clinical histories on pathological fetal monitoring in pregnant patients during labor and its relationship with the assessment of an APGAR in the newborn from January - December, 2015 to 2016. Information registered in a predesigned form and analyzed with the SPSS 15.0 program. The qualitative and quantitative variables were represented by frequency and percentage. The continuous age variable was explained by measures of central tendency (mean) and dispersion (standard deviation). RESULTS: We reviewed 175 clinical histories on pathological fetal monitoring in pregnant patients during labor, the age group between 18-35 years represented 83.4%. It was established that during pathological fetal monitoring, tachycardia was more prevalent with 48.0%, decelerations type II with 38.3% and type III with 5.3%. Regarding the route of termination of pregnancy 90.9% predominated the cesarean section. Of the total number of patients in this study, 69.7% had meconium amniotic fluid and the newborns presented at the first and fifth minutes apgar of 7-10 corresponding to fetal well-being
