La percepción de los adultos mayores jubilados frente al retiro laboral

Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe the perception of retired seniors in relation to retirement. The methodology of the study has a quantitative approach with a descriptive scope, for which we worked with a non-probabilistic convenience sample consisting of 56 men and 50 women, residents in different places of the city of Cuenca. The instrument used was Escala de Intervalos Sucesivos de Tipo Thurstone: La Jubilación of Rodríguez Feijoó (2006); Cronbach's alpha after the processing performed for validation of the scale was ac = .73. For the results descriptive statistics was used, finding that at a general level 86.8% responded according to the scale items having a favorable attitude toward the labor retirement, being 50 men and 42 women, while in 13.2% they disagree which indicates an unfavorable attitude toward retirement. In addition, the result of chi-square (x2) was .15, which rejected the null hypothesis that referred to sex does not influence the favorable or unfavorable perception of retirement. Finally, with the positive, negative and neutral factors, the perception of retired seniors towards retirement was analyzed in more detail, where it was found that 59% have a positive attitude, 18% have a neutral attitude, and finally 23% presents a negative attitude, highlighting again in the sample studied a positive perception or attitude towards this event.
