Consejería farmacéutica en el uso adecuado de colirios y pomadas oftálmicas en pacientes con trastornos oculares en la Farmacia Municipal “Salud para Todos” del cantón Cañar

Abstract

The incorrect use of medicines is a major health problem, which is why pharmacists from the community and hospital pharmacy must carry out pharmaceutical counseling programs that guarantee the correct use of medicines. This research aims to improve the use of eye drops and eye ointments through an Educational Program of Pharmaceutical Counseling in patients with eye disorders; Pharmaceutical counseling was given at the time of dispensing, a survey was used as an instrument for gathering information, and a triptych was used as an informative tool. At the end of the investigation it was observed that 18.9% did not use their treatment properly, it was identified that 71.7% did not use any hygienic measure, 18.8% indicated that the use of ophthalmologic treatment after being opened can be used up one month, the pharmacological treatment time 17% indicated seven days, after the pharmaceutical counseling was given the results obtained were: adequate use of eye drops or ointments 87.33%, use of hygienic measures 3.88% did not use any measured, 79.57% of the patients indicated that the time of use of the ophthalmological treatment is one month, and 48.83% indicated that the treatment time is maximum of seven days. With the pharmaceutical counseling, patients improved the use of eye drops or ophthalmological ointments.
