| dc.description | En el presente estudio se analiza la inmigración de jubilados estadounidenses en Cuenca, Ecuador. Proceso migratorio norte-sur, contrario a lo que tradicionalmente se ha observado en el contexto internacional de las migraciones de las últimas décadas. Los protagonistas son jubilados que se movilizan buscando maximizar sus pensiones por los bajos costos de vida en destino, buen clima y disfrutar su jubilación. Se estudian las estrategias de apropiación y configuración de los inmigrantes sobre los espacios que conforman la ciudad de Cuenca. Además se describe la percepción de los cuencanos sobre este grupo que llega a vivir en la ciudad. Se investigó desde un enfoque mixto; la percepción de manera cuantitativa descriptiva; y las formas de integración de los jubilados en base a entrevistas a profundidad. | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | The present study analyzes the immigration of US retirees in Cuenca, Ecuador. It concerns a North-South migration process, contrary to what has traditionally been observed in the international context of migration during the last decades. The protagonists are US retirees who want to maximize their pensions by the low cost of life in Ecuador, enjoy their retirement and the excellent climate. The study focuses on the immigrants strategies of appropriation and configuration of the spaces that conform the city of Cuenca. It also describes the perception of the cuencanos about this group that is coming to live in the city. A mixed investigative approach was used; a quantitative descriptive method to analyze the perception of the cuencanos and in-depth interviews to analyze the forms of integration of the retirees. | es_ES |
