Abstract

Background: The family has become the fundamental base of all society, nowadays, psychological health is taking more force, being linked in each area in which the human being develops: family, society and work, and if some of These factors are modified, this will affect each of its members. There are changes in the family that affect the pregnant woman, which is more susceptible to changes in the environment, physical, psychological and emotional health. Objective: To determine the degree of family functionality of pregnant women who attended the delivery at the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital during July to September 2016. Methodology: A descriptive and cross - sectional investigation was carried out. The universe was composed of women who attended the delivery at the Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, in the period from July to September 2016. The APGAR Family Test was applied, the information was collected in forms and the data were processed using the SPSS program using absolute frequency and percentages, which were represented in tables. Results: The most prevalent age group was 21 to 30 years old (45.4%). There is a higher frequency of married women (51.6%), with secondary education (40.1%) and employed by private employees (37%). The majority live in urban areas (55.7%) and have a history of 1 to 3 previous births (71.3%). After applying the APGAR family test, 66.1% of the families are functional, 20.4% have mild dysfunction, 9% moderate dysfunction and 4.5% have severe dysfunction. Conclusions: There are a significant number of pregnant women members of families with some level of dysfunction. It is necessary to provide psychological and social support to these patients and the evaluation of family functionality in pregnant women should be documented
