dc.description | Antecedentes: En los últimos años la incidencia de cáncer de tiroides ha ido incrementando. El carcinoma diferenciado de tiroides (CDT) corresponde a más del 80% de neoplasias tiroideas afectando más a mujeres y mayores de 45 años de edad1 Objetivo General: Determinar las características epidemiológicas y clínicas del carcinoma diferenciado de tiroides en el Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga de Cuenca durante los años 2010-2015. Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo retrospectivo, se recolectó información de 519 historias clínicas sobre CDT desde el año 2010 al 2015. Información registrada en un formulario pre-diseñado y analizada con el programa SPSS 15.0, obteniendo la frecuencia y porcentaje de cada variable. Resultados: Se revisó 519 historias clínicas con diagnóstico de CDT, el 60,1 % en ≥ 45 años de edad. Fue más frecuente en mujeres (83,6 %). El 86,3 % proceden de la región Sierra. El nódulo palpable supuso la principal forma de presentación (68,2 %). La variante histológica más frecuente fue la papilar (95,4). El 91,7 % se realizó tiroidectomía total. La ecografía (96,6 %) y la Tiroglobulina sérica (96,0 %) fueron los métodos de control más utilizados. El año 2010 tuvo 10,8 % de casos de CDT y en el año 2015 ascendió a 24,3 %. Conclusiones: La frecuencia de CDT en nuestro medio ha ido incrementando, especialmente en mujeres y en pacientes ≥ 45 años de edad. dc.description.abstract | Background: In recent years the incidence of thyroid cancer has been increasing. The differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) corresponds to more than 80% of thyroid malignancies affecting more women and people over 45 years of age.1 Overall Objective: To determine the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of differentiated thyroid carcinoma José Carrasco Arteaga of Cuenca Hospital during 2010-2015. Materials and Methods: Retrospective descriptive study, cross-sectional study of 519 medical records information collected from 2010 to 2015. Information was recorded in a form pre-designed and analyzed with SPSS 15.0 software, obtaining the frequency and percentage of each variable. Results: 519 medical records were reviewed with diagnosis of CDT, the 60.1% were patient’s ≥ 45 years of age. It was more common in women (83.6%). 86.3% come from the Sierra region. The palpable nodule represented the main form of presentation (68.2%). The most frequent histological variant was papillary (95.4). The 91.7% Total thyroidectomy. Ultrasound (96.6%) and serum thyroglobulin (96.0%) were the most commonly used methods of control. The year 2010 was 10.8% of cases of CDT and in 2015 amounted to 24.3%.
