| Abstract: | In the present research, an alternative to increase the geomechanical characteristics of the "La Virginia" mine material is being studied in order to use it as an improvement material for the subgrade layer in the region 's tracks. The current characteristics of the material do not meet the technical specifications of the MTOP in terms of the plasticity index and the liquid limit. For this reason, the use of the pozzolan stabilizer from the Araña Huaycu mine will be investigated to improve these characteristics.
To determine the composition of the ideal pozzolan mixture, several laboratory tests are performed to characterize the breeding materials and pozzolana in their natural state, followed by tests of the mixture of the materials in the proportions 90/10, 80/20 And 70/30 (breeding / pozzolana). With the laboratory results, it is verified that pozzolana improves the characteristics of the breeding material in terms of plasticity index, liquid limit, percentage of expansion and improves the relative value of CBR support.
In order to compare the proposed mixture, results of the design of the layer of rolling are presented, where it is evident that, by improving the material characteristics of the "La Virginia" mine, the thickness of the stabilized improvement material decreases considerably, Of 48 cm (without pozzolana) to 36 cm (with a relation 70 improvement and 30 pozzolana). From the economic analysis of the alternatives of using material stabilized improvement of the "La Virginia" mine, it is found that considering all the factors that affect the costs, the overall cost of stabilized improvement with pozzolana decreases significantly.
For the presented design, it is determined that the percentage of mixture 70/30 allows to have a smaller thickness for the rolling layer, reducing the overall cost. This type of material will also lower maintenance costs, because the required maintenance work decreases by using stabilized layers that have better strength. This mixture, in addition to lowering the plasticity index and liquid limit, increases the CBR value that is related to the bearing capacity of the material, thus complying with the MTOP specifications and decreasing the thickness of the rolling layer |
| Description: | En la presente investigación se estudia una alternativa para elevar las propiedades geomecánicas del material de la mina La Virginia con la finalidad de utilizarlo como material de mejoramiento de la subrasante en vías de la región. Las características actuales del material no cumplen con las especificaciones técnicas del MTOP en cuanto al índice de plasticidad y límite líquido, por tal motivo, se investigará el empleo de estabilizante de puzolana proveniente de la mina Araña Huaycu para mejorar dichas características.
Para determinar la mezcla ideal de materiales de las minas Araña Huaycu y la Virginia, se realizan primero varios ensayos de laboratorio para caracterizar los materiales de mejoramiento y puzolana en su estado natural, seguido de ensayos de la mezcla de los materiales en las proporciones 90/10, 80/20 y 70/30 (mejoramiento/puzolana). Una vez obtenidos los resultados de laboratorio se comprueba que la puzolana mejora las características del material de mejoramiento en cuanto al índice de plasticidad, límite líquido, porcentaje de expansión y mejora el valor relativo de soporte CBR.
Con la finalidad de comparar la mezcla propuesta, se presentan resultados del diseño de la capa de rodadura, donde se evidencia que, al mejorar las características del material de La Virginia, los espesores del material de mejoramiento estabilizado disminuyen considerablemente, pasando de 48 cm (sin puzolana) a 36 cm (con una relación 70 mejoramiento y 30 puzolana). Del análisis económico de las alternativas de utilizar mejoramiento de La Virginia estabilizado, se encuentra que considerando todos los factores que afectan a los costos, el costo global del mejoramiento estabilizado con puzolana disminuye de manera importante.
Para el diseño presentado se determina que el porcentaje de mezcla 70/30 permite tener un espesor menor de la capa de rodadura, disminuyendo el costo global. Este tipo de material disminuirá también los costos de mantenimiento, debido a que los trabajos de mantenimiento necesarios decrecen al emplearse capas estabilizadas que tienen mejor resistencia. Esta mezcla además de bajar el índice de plasticidad y límite líquido, incrementa el valor CBR que se relaciona con la capacidad de soporte del material, cumpliendo de esta manera con las especificaciones del MTOP y disminuyendo los espesores de la capa de rodadura |
