| Abstract: | The family, being considered the core of society, has been the focus of study of different disciplines, including the psychology field. The migrant family represents a considerable percentage of the total population in the city of Cuenca - Ecuador, so it is important to understand how it works. Therefore, the current study was conducted in the educative institution city of Cuenca - Ecuador, to determine the Family Function according to the Olson Circumplex Model in migrant parents’ adolescent children. This descriptive research study encompasses a quantitative approach and a data collecting tool, the family adaptability and cohesion evaluation scale, (FACES III) Schmidt (2002), which was administered to a sample of 96 migrant parents’ adolescent children of a local educational institution. This tool eased the description of the objective characteristics of the Family Functioning of migrant parents’ adolescent children, in the areas of family cohesion and adaptability within the 2016-2017 school period. The results show, based on the highest percentages, a cohesion level of 73% that represents the tangled up type, an adaptability level of 44%, that represents the chaotic type, reason why the predominant family type turns out to be the extreme one. |
| Description: | La familia al ser considerada el núcleo de la sociedad, ha sido objeto de estudio de diferentes disciplinas incluida la psicología. La familia migrante representa un porcentaje considerable del total de la población en la ciudad de Cuenca-Ecuador, resulta importante conocer su funcionamiento. Es por ello, que se realizó el presente estudio en una institución educativa de la ciudad de Cuenca-Ecuador, con el propósito de determinar el Funcionamiento Familiar según el Modelo Circumplejo de Olson en adolescentes hijos de padres migrantes. El trabajo de investigación de enfoque cuantitativo, es un estudio de tipo descriptivo, se valió de la escala de cohesión y adaptabilidad familiar, 3º versión (FACES III) de Schmidt (2002), la que fue administrada a una muestra de 96 adolescentes hijos de padres migrantes de una institución educativa de la ciudad, además posibilitó la descripción de características objetivas del Funcionamiento Familiar de los adolescentes hijos de padres migrantes en las áreas de cohesión y adaptabilidad familiar, dentro del periodo educativo 2016-2017. Los resultados obtenidos reflejan, en consideración de los porcentajes más altos, un nivel de cohesión 73% que representa el tipo enredado, un nivel de adaptabilidad 44% representa el tipo caótico, siendo el tipo de familia predominante la extrema. |
