Abstract: | In general, the evolution of lighting systems has aimed to improve its efficiency and lengthen its useful life. Thanks to the main advantages of LED technology, these objectives have been achieved and better lighting systems have been obtained. For LED luminaires you need a Driver (power converter) that provides the right energy to the luminaire.
For this titling work the design and construction of a power converter for 6W LED residential luminaire driver applications is presented. For the driver design, the Flyback topology was chosen in discontinuous driving mode (MCD) and a current control mode via the FT833B12 integrated circuit. In addition, a study of the main driver losses designed for their respective efficiency analysis was carried out, establishing a comparison of performance through simulation tools, analytical losses analysis and experimental measures. Also, a study of energy losses was carried out by means of a thermal analysis with which the heating of the components used in the designed driver was observed.
Also, a test protocol was implemented, in which comparative tests of efficiency and total harmonic distortion of current (THDi) between the prototype of the designed driver and 2 commercial LED drivers, with results that the driver designed is 2% more efficient and has a lower THDi in average of 10.13% compared to the 2 commercial drivers |
