| Abstract: | Background: In all populations, excessive alcohol consumption is a public health problem due to the negative impact on morbidity and mortality, so more than half of drivers drink alcoholic beverages, and about one-third of them make risk consumption.
Objective: The objective of the research was to determine the characteristics of alcohol consumption in the professional drivers of Canton Azogues 2016.
Material and methods: A descriptive study was carried out, the universe consisted of 1000 professional drivers of taxis and vans and the sample calculated in epi Info software with the following criteria: 95% confidence interval, acceptable error 1,5% Expected frequency 7%, total sample 137, included all drivers who signed the informed consent and excluded those who at the time of application of the data collection instrument was under the effect of alcohol.
The research technique used was the interview, through the application of the AUDIT test individually, for the collection of demographic information, a previously structured survey was used.
The information processing was performed in the SPSS program, and the results are presented through statistical tables and graphs in frequencies and percentages.
Results: 35.8% of professional drivers in the canton of Azogues presented risk consumption, 7.3% harmful consumption and 2.9% dependency consumption according to the AUDIT test |
| Description: | Antecedentes: En todas las poblaciones el consumo excesivo de alcohol es un problema de salud pública debido al impacto negativo en la morbilidad y mortalidad, es así que más de la mitad de conductores ingieren bebidas alcohólicas, y aproximadamente un tercio de las mismas hace consumo de riesgo.
Objetivo: El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar las características del consumo de alcohol en los choferes profesionales del cantón Azogues 2016.
Material y métodos: Se realizó un estudio de tipo descriptivo, el universo estuvo constituido por 1000 choferes profesionales de taxis y camionetas, la muestra calculada en software epi Info con los siguientes criterios: Intervalo de confianza 95%, error aceptable 1,5%, frecuencia esperada 7%, total de la muestra 137, se incluyó a todos los choferes que firmaron el consentimiento informado y se excluyó a quienes en el momento de la aplicación del instrumento de colección de datos se encontraba bajo el efecto del alcohol.
La técnica de investigación utilizada fue la entrevista, mediante la aplicación del test AUDIT de manera individual, para la recolección de la información demográfica se utilizó una encuesta previamente estructurada,
El procesamiento de la información se realizó en el programa SPSS, y los resultados se presentan mediante tablas y gráficos estadísticos en frecuencias y porcentajes.
Resultados: El 35,8% de choferes profesionales del cantón Azogues presentaron consumo de riesgo, el 7,3% consumo perjudicial y el 2,9% consumo de dependencia según el test AUDIT |
