Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre salud sexual y reproductiva de las Trabajadoras Sexuales de la Zona de Tolerancia, Cuenca 2016

Abstract

Introduction: It is estimated that approximately 55 thousand sex workers are currently working throughout the country, of which practically half of women do not have a secondary education (27), thus continuing education on issues such as sexual and reproductive health in Benefit and the community in general. Objective: to identify the knowledge, attitudes and practices on the sexual and reproductive health of sex workers in the tolerance zone, Cuenca 2016. Methodology: quantitative descriptive study applied in three nightlife centers located in the tolerance zone of Cuenca city. This research was carried out with the support of 120 sex workers who according to the established inclusion criteria were used a questionnaire validated and modified before signing the informed consent. From this we obtained the information that was processed with the SPSS 23 program, analyzing it with descriptive statistics to present them in frequency tables. Results: sex workers had a mean age of 28.3 ± 6 years, with a free marital status (51.7%), the same with primary education (52.5%). Those worked from 1 to 4 years (47.5%) in the place. 40% of women have 1 to 2 children, and receive a salary of $ 360- $ 500 (45%). 96.7% know about basic contraceptive methods, although 91.7% do not use them "frequently". To prevent pregnancy, most (60%) use injectable methods preferably (30.8%). It should be noted that all women know about STIs and 49.2% have high discrimination towards people with HIV / AIDS. Finally, in the last 6 months, all the female workers attended medical check-up, and 64.1% emphasized the HIV test. Conclusions: sex workers have adequate knowledge of sexual and reproductive health
