| Abstract: | The Diabetes Mellitus type 2, frequently, is complicated with neuropathy peripheral of lower limbs. This is a complication micro vascular, alters the quality of life and increases the morbidity and mortality of who it suffers.
Objectives
Determine the prevalence of peripheral neuropathy of lower limbs and associated factors in patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2 attending outpatients’ department in the Donum Foundation during 2016.
Material and methods
It is a cross-sectional study with a sample of 323 patients. This was calculated with 95% confidence, 30% prevalence of obesity, 5% error of inference, infinite population, and entered study sequentially. For diagnosis of neuropathy, DN4 questionnaire was used. The data were collected in a direct way and were analyzed using the Software SPSS version 15.
Results
The prevalence of neuropathy was 44.0% (95% CI 8-52, 35, 2); in women 49.3%, in men 34.0%; in the age of 40 years 0%; among the 40-64 years, 42.6% and over 64 years, 48.3%, and was associated with the longer 5 year evolution of the diabetes (RP 2.1; IC 95% 1.4-3.2 and p < 0.01).
Conclusions
The prevalence of neuropathy was superior to the 30% raised in the hypothesis, and was associated to the time of evolution of the diabetes |
| Description: | La Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2, frecuentemente, se complica con neuropatía periférica de miembros inferiores. Esta es una complicación micro vascular, altera la calidad de vida e incrementa la morbilidad y mortalidad de quienes la padecen.
Objetivo
Determinar la prevalencia de neuropatía periférica de miembros inferiores y factores asociados en pacientes con Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 que acudieron a consulta externa en la Fundación Donum durante el 2016.
Materiales y métodos
Se realizó un estudio transversal en una muestra de 323 pacientes. Esta se calculó con el 95 % de confianza, 30% de prevalencia de obesidad, 5% de error de inferencia, población infinita, e ingresaron al estudio de manera secuencial. El diagnóstico de neuropatía se realizó con el cuestionario DN4. Los datos se recolectaron de manera directa y se analizaron con el Software SPSS versión 15.
Resultados
La prevalencia de neuropatía fue 44.0% (IC 95% 35,8-52,2); en la mujeres 49.3%, en los hombres 34.0%; en los menores de 40 años 0%; entre los 40-64 años, 42,6% y los mayores de 64 años, 48.3%, y se asoció con el tiempo mayor a 5 años de evolución de la diabetes (RP 2.1; IC 95 % 1.4-3.2 y p < 0.01).
Conclusión
La prevalencia de neuropatía fue superior al 30% planteado en la hipótesis, y estuvo asociado al tiempo de evolución de la diabetes |
