| Abstract: | BACKGROUND: Infections Associated with Health Care (HAI) are a major public health problem for patients, family, community and state, remains an important issue for institutions and health personnel; to be an adverse event can be prevented. Every day, IAAS cause prolongation of hospital stays, long-term disability, resistance of microorganisms, unnecessary deaths and high costs for health systems (1) (2).
GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To determine the frequency of Healthcare-associated Infections (HAI) at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during the months July - December 2015.
METHODS: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective study was carried out, the study universe consisted of 7814 medical records of the patients seen in the hospitalization services during the study period, which were distributed according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, being 3723 (47.6%) included medical records and 4091 (52.4%) excluded that correspond to unavailable, incomplete, and repeated date of hospitalized patients in the obstetrics and emergency areas, conforming the study sample 3723 income. The evaluation of the IAAS was based on the form taken from a study carried out by the Hospital Epidemiological Surveillance System of Peru. The information was analyzed in the program SPSS version 15, simple tables of frequencies and percentages were realized
RESULTS: The prevalence of Associated Infections to Health Care in the 3723 hospitalized patients was 370 (10,0%) events in 344 patients, of which 112 (30.3%) were Urinary Tract Infections (UTI); 103 (27.8%) Bloodstream Infections (STI); 81 (21.6%) Pneumonia Associated with Health Care (PAHC); 60 (16.2%) Surgical Site Infection (SSI); 14 (4.1%) Reproductive Tract Infections (RTI). Being the ITU with 73 (65.2%) predominant in the clinic service. The age groups affected were children under one month and adults aged 66 to 75 years, with males with 211 events, of which 25.5% were of SSI |
| Description: | ANTECEDENTES: Las Infecciones Asociadas a la Atención de Salud (IAAS) constituyen un importante problema de salud pública para los pacientes, familia, comunidad y el Estado. Cada día, las IAAS provocan la prolongación de las estancias hospitalarias.
OBJETIVO GENERAL: Determinar la frecuencia de Infecciones Asociadas a la Atención de Salud (IAAS) en el Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso durante los meses julio - diciembre 2015.
METODOLOGÍA: Se llevó a cabo un estudio observacional, descriptivo, transversal, retrospectivo, el universo de estudio conformaron 7814 historias clínicas de los pacientes atendidos en los servicios de hospitalización según los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, siendo 3723 (47,6%) historias clínicas incluidas y 4091 (52,4%) excluidas que corresponde a fichas no disponibles, incompletas, en las áreas de obstetricia y emergencia, conformando la muestra de estudio 3723 ingresos.. Se analizó la información en el programa SPSS versión 15, se realizaron tablas simples de frecuencias y porcentajes.
RESULTADOS: La Atención de Salud en 3723 pacientes hospitalizados fue de 370 (10,0%) eventos en 344 pacientes, siendo 112 (30,3%) infecciones del tracto urinario (ITU); 103 (27,8%) infecciones del torrente sanguíneo (ITS); 81 (21,6%) neumonía asociada a la atención de salud (NAAS); 60 (16,2%) infección del sitio quirúrgico (ISQ); 14 (4,1%) infecciones del tracto reproductor (ITR); siendo las ITU con 73 (65,2%) predominante en el servicio de clínica. Los grupos de edad afectados fueron los menores de un mes y adultos de 66 a 75 años, sobresaliente el sexo masculino con 211 eventos de los cuales el 25,5% fueron de ISQ |
