Prevalencia de parásitos gastrointestinales en bovinos adultos de los cantones orientales de la provincia del Azuay

Abstract

The samples for this research were taken in 527 herds in the eastern districts of the Province of Azuay, from 942 multiparous cows. The coproparasitario analysis was performed at the Laboratory of the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Cuenca between October 2015 - June 2016. The objective was to determine the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites in multiparous cows in the study area, and; analyze whether factors: health systems and grazing, stocking and altitudinal influence the level of parasitism. the sedimentation and flotation techniques to determine the level of parasitism were used, determining a prevalence of 82.4%. In both techniques Eimeria bovis was determined that the parasite was more degree of infestation, with a percentage of 55.0% ± 0.02 and 64.54 ± 0.02 respectively for flotation and sedimentation, likewise; this parasite was the only one that was presented in mild, moderate, severe and very severe. It was established that the factors: grazing system, stocking and altitudinal floor have statistical evidence (P <0.05) to indicate its possible influence on the prevalence and degree of infestation of gastrointestinal parasites in the Eastern cantons of the Province of Azuay, while the health system did not influence the level of parasitism (P> 0.05).
