Evaluación de fracturas diafisiarias, formación del callo ciatrizal hasta la curación clínica, con la utilización de symphytum en pacientes caninos entre 12 a 48 meses de edad

Abstract

The Symphytum officinale is regarded as a homeopathic alternative drug helps in the treatment of fractures, however, has not worked in investigations of this product in Ecuador. The aim of this study is to test the effect of Symphytum officinale in the healing process of diaphyseal fractures in long bones of adult dogs. To achieve the results, 36 dogs with diaphyseal fractures in long bones such as the femur, tibia and radius were observed. These animals were divided into two groups, the first received the Symphytum officinale in a homeopathic potency 30 CH more conventional treatment for fractures; the second group served as a control, received only conventional treatment for fractures. Radiological control studies were performed on the immediate postsurgical, at 15, 30 and 45 days after the immobilization of the fracture. Thus, the formation of scar callus and time when achieved clinical fracture healing was evaluated. The result obtained in the treatment group Symphytum officinale, was that the formation of scar callus give 30 days, while the control group required 45 days to achieve clinical cure. Accordingly, we conclude that the Symphytum officinale can be used as an adjunct in the treatment of fractures
