dc.description.abstract | Context:Currently, there is not an ideal material for dental restorations. As a result, the endangered marginal leakage continues due to the subsequent failure of the restorations. Aim: a cohort study was conducted to determine the marginal leakage of Glass ionomer cement and dental Compomers fillings in primary teeth molars applying a clinical diagnosis and photographic studio.Materials and methods: In this study, 44 fillings were performed in 22 children, ranging in age from 5-10 years. This study was conducted at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Cuenca, where each child had both a filling with glass ionomer (Ionolux) and one with compomer (Twinky Star) in cavity preparations class I Black. Two dentists were selected to conduct this clinical evaluation, Dr. Juan Fernando Ordonez and Dr. Pablo Tamariz. This study was performed under the modified USPHS (United State Public Health Service) criteria. Photographic records were taken to evaluate discoloration of both materials and radiographic imaging to determine secondary cavities. Statistical analysis used: EXCEL and SPSS program with Kendall Tau C test were used. Results:The results showed no statistically significant differences between the two materials being p=0.416. The glass ionomer showed statistically significant differences from three to five months in terms of marginal integrity being p= 0.029. Conclusion:It was concluded that both materials have acceptable characteristics of integrity, marginal discoloration and surface texture, so its use is recommended in deciduous teeth. Finally, none of these materials produced postoperative sensitivity | es_ES |
