| dc.description | Objetivo Determinar el manejo domiciliario de los desechos generados en el tratamiento y auto monitoreo de la glucosa por pacientes diagnosticados de diabetes que acuden a consulta externa en la Fundación Donum de Cuenca, durante el 2014. Materiales y métodos Se realizó un estudio descriptivo en 203 pacientes diabéticos que asistieron a consulta externa en la Fundación Donum, entre septiembre y diciembre de 2014. Los datos se obtuvieron con entrevista directa y se analizaron con la ayuda del software SPSS. Resultados De los 203 pacientes diabéticos, el grupo predominante de edad está entre los 59 y 68 años (40,4%). La mayoría son mujeres (67%). El 98% de los pacientes fueron diagnosticados con diabetes mellitus tipo 2, y el resto con otros tipos de diabetes. Del total de pacientes entrevistados el 47,3% produce desechos infecciosos en sus domicilios ya que realiza tratamiento y automonitoreo de la glucosa. De este porcentaje: 97,4% no separa los desechos generados del reto de la basura doméstica; 97,9% almacena inadecuadamente estos desechos dentro de sus casas; y, el 100% los elimina de sus viviendas de manera inadecuada. Conclusión De los pacientes diabéticos que acudieron a consulta externa en la Fundación Donum de Cuenca, entre septiembre y diciembre de 2014, y que generan desechos infecciosos en sus domicilios por el tratamiento y automonitoreo de la glucosa, más del 95% separa, almacena y elimina de manera inadecuada los desechos | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Objective Determine the home management of waste generated in the treatment and self-monitoring of glucose by patients diagnosed with diabetes attending outpatient Donum Foundation in Cuenca, during 2014. Materials and methods A descriptive study was conducted in 203 patients with diabetes who attended outpatient in the Donum Foundation between September and December 2014. Data were obtained with direct interview and analyzed using the SPSS software. Results Of the 203 diabetic patients the predominant age group is between 59 and 68 years (40.4%). Most women (67%). 98% of patients were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes millitus and the remainder with other types of diabetes. Of the total patients interviewed 47.3% produce infectious waste in their homes and performing treatment and self-monitoring of glucose. This percentage: 97.4% does not separate the waste generated from other household waste; 97.9% of these wastes improperly stored indoors; and removes 100% of their homes improperly.
