Prevalencia de dependencia física severa y total luego de evento cerebrovascular en pacientes del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso 2014

Abstract

Objective: To determine the prevalence of severe physical and total dependence, according to the Barthel index in patients admitted in the Vicente Corral Moscoso hospital which have presented stroke event and their relation with risk factors (age, sex, HTA, diabetes, dyslipidemia, family history of CVD, atrial fibrillation), during a period of one semester in 2014. Methodology: Cross-sectional quantitative study, held in 73 patients admitted to the service of internal medicine of Vicente Corral Moscoso hospital for CVD in a period of one semester in the year of 2014; the data was collected through the use of a form for measuring the risk factors and applying the Barthel scale twice, at the entry and after three months of the event, to determine the physical dependence respectively, for this a consent was previously signed by the patient or a family member, in case of not being the patient mentally capable. Results: The average age was of 71,99 years old ± 16,76 years, the most affected gender was the females with a 67,1%; the type of most frequent CVD was ischemic with a 67,1%; the initial assessment (48 hours) of the physical dependence revealed that the 61,6% of the population presented severe dependence and the 35,6% total dependence; after the assessment at 3 months, moderate dependence was the most frequent with 63%; while the total dependence decreased to 4,1% and the severe level in a 21,9%. 72,6% of the patients received rehabilitation, being this the group with better scores: in other words initially the group which entered into rehabilitation submitted an average of the Barthel index of 30,38 points and after the rehabilitation therapy it was located in 73,77 points (t=-19,7 p=0,00). None of the factors were statistically associated (p>0,05) with physical dependence levels.

Conclusion: The total physical and severe dependence are high at the time of the CVD, with a prevalence of 61.2 % for severe physical dependence and 35.6 % for total physical dependence, without statistically associated with any risk factors .This dependence is progressively reduced with the passage of time and interventiontherapyproved to have a significant impact on the recovery.
