Cuantificación de material particulado PM10 y su efecto toxicológico-ambiental, en la ciudad de Azogues

Abstract

For more than 30 years the city of Azogues has suffered from contamination by dust, however have not been studies that evaluate technically the degree of pollution. This study raised main objective contribute to the evaluation of the quality of the air in the city of Azogues, through quantification of the concentrations of material particulate matter PM10 in two parts of the city through surveys with the sampler of high-volume (High Volume Sampler, HVS), using micro quartz fiber filters, alternating every four days and following procedures established by the Ecuadorian legislation. The study was conducted during the months between September 2013 to March 2014. Average daily PM10 concentrations during the six months of monitoring was 70.3 µg/m3, while Ecuador 100 µg/m3 air quality standard, it does not exceed exceeding Yes the one given by the World Health Organization that establishes the maximum limit of 50 µg/m3, the population would be exposed to the development of some conditions especially of respiratory type. The concentration of material particulate matter PM10 exceeded the Ecuadorian legislation in 14% of the determinations made and 70% of the who standard. Unfortunately, the negative effects on the health of the inhabitants are not being evaluated by any institution.
