dc.description | Objetivo: determinar la prevalencia del síndrome de Burnout en los docentes de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de la Universidad de Cuenca, y los posibles factores relacionados sobre el mismo. Material y métodos: estudio de prevalencia; investigación de tipo cuantitativa en 148 docentes de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas. Se empleó encuesta anónima sobre características socio-demográficas y laborales; se aplicó el test Maslach Burnout Inventory, cuestionario de 22 preguntas; la presencia del síndrome se determinó por un nivel bajo de la subescala Realización Personal. Resultados: la prevalencia del síndrome de Burnout fue del 64,9%; la mayor frecuencia de las tres subescalas se presentó en el nivel bajo con 75% para agotamiento emocional, 71,6% para despersonalización y 64,9% para la realización personal que determinó el síndrome. Se encontró una mayor prevalencia en el sexo masculino con 69,2% en contraposición al sexo femenino que presentó el síndrome en un 60%; igualmente la mayor prevalencia se encontró en los docentes que no son casados, 61,6% versus 75%. Se encontró que un tiempo relativamente corto de período laboral (6 a 10 años) presentó nivel de Burnout del 82,4% y aquellos docentes que consideran su ambiente laboral como cómodo y que realizan solamente turnos diurnos, presentaron la mayor prevalencia del síndrome, 68,3% y 65,6% respectivamente. dc.description.abstract | Objective: determine the prevalence of burnout syndrome, Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Cuenca, and possible factors related thereon. Material and methods: type of quantitative research from 149 teachers of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. Was used anonymous survey about sociodemographic and labor characteristics; was applied the test Maslach Burnout Inventory, questionnaire of 22 questions; the presence of the síndrome was determinated by low subscale Personal Realitation. Results: the prevalence of Burnout syndrome was 64,9 %; the highest frequency of the three subscales was present in the level low 75% for emotional exhaustion, 71,6% for depersonalization y 64,9% for personal realitation that determined síndrome. a higher prevalence was found in males with 69,2% as opposed to female presented Syndrome 60 %; also the highest prevalence was found in teachers who are not married, 61,6% versus 75%. Found that in a relatively short time period labor (6 to 10 years) presented Burnout level of 82.4% and teachers who view their work environment as comfortable and performing only day shifts, showed the highest prevalence of the síndrome, 68,3% and 65,6% respectively.
